This policy explains how Plummers Plumbing (Peter Plummer, licensed plumber, licence 119671) collects, uses, stores and shares personal information. It covers this website (plummersplumbing.com.au) and the enquiries you make by phone, email or form. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
- Contact and job details you give us: your name, phone number, email address, your suburb or the address of the property, and what you need done.
- Job and billing records: quotes, bookings, the work we carry out, photos of that work, invoices and payments.
- Website usage information: the pages you visit, how you arrived at our site (for example a search engine, an ad, a link or a campaign tag), the buttons and links you use (such as call, email or quote), your device and browser, and your approximate location (to city level, from your IP address).
We do not ask for sensitive information, such as health information. Please do not include it in a message.
How we collect it
We collect information when you fill in a form on our website, call, email or message us, book or receive a job, and when you use our website (through cookies and your browser’s storage, described below). If someone else books work at your property, such as a landlord, property manager, real estate agent or builder, they may give us your contact details.
You can ask us a general question without giving your name, or by using a different name. To quote for, book or carry out a job, we need your contact details and the address of the property. Without them, we may not be able to help.
How we use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and give you a quote
- schedule, carry out and follow up work, and issue invoices
- meet our legal obligations, including plumbing compliance certificates and records
- understand how people find and use our website and our advertising, so we can improve them.
We only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.
Our enquiry forms
When you send a form on this website, your details go through our form service, Web3Forms, which emails them to Plummers Plumbing and to the agency that runs this website for us, aiRANKSEO, which receives a copy of each enquiry. So we know which of our marketing works, the email also says how you arrived at our site (for example Google, an ad or a link), the website that sent you, the first page you visited and, if you came from an ad, the ad’s click and campaign reference. Until you close the browser tab, our website keeps that arrival information in your browser’s session storage so it can be added to an enquiry. The forms also include a hidden field that catches spam.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure how our website is used. It starts when you first interact with a page (for example by scrolling or tapping) or a few seconds after the page loads, or straight away when you arrive from one of our Google ads, come back after arriving from one, or reach our thank-you page after sending an enquiry. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, so a returning browser can be recognised. It records the website usage information described above, including when an enquiry is sent and when a call, email or quote link or button is used, together with how you arrived. Our website does not send your name, email address or phone number to Google Analytics. Google signals is turned off, and our settings keep user-level data for no more than 14 months.
Google Ads. We advertise on Google. When you arrive from one of our Google ads, the ad’s click reference is saved in a Google Ads cookie (such as _gcl_aw, _gcl_ag or _gcl_au). If you then send an enquiry, our website tells Google Ads, so we can measure which of our ads lead to enquiries. Google Ads does not receive the message you write to us.
Calls from our website. If you arrived from one of our Google ads, our website may show you a Google forwarding number in place of 0447 134 432, on that visit and on later visits for up to 90 days after the ad click. Google may keep that number in a cookie. A call to it rings us as normal. Google records the date and time of the call, how long it lasted, whether it was answered, and the caller’s phone number (for calls longer than about 15 seconds; otherwise only the area code), so we can see which of our ads lead to calls; it does not record what is said. Everyone else sees our usual number.
Enhanced conversions. Our Google Ads tag uses Google’s enhanced conversions. When you send an enquiry, our website turns the phone number you entered, and your email address if you gave one, into a one-way code on your device (hashing, using SHA-256) and sends only that code to Google Ads when it reports the enquiry. Google’s tag may also read contact details shown on a page and code them the same way. Google compares the code with its own information about people signed in to Google, to work out which ad led to the enquiry, and reports the results to us only as totals. We do not receive any information about you from Google.
Ads based on your visits. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show ads based on a person’s past visits to our website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show ads to you based on your visits to our website and/or other websites on the internet. You can turn off personalised advertising from Google in My Ad Center.
Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the website still works without them. You can also use Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Cloudflare. Our website is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver and protect the site.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to do the work and run our business, with:
- service providers who help us operate, such as our website host (Cloudflare), our form service (Web3Forms), the agency that runs our website (aiRANKSEO), Google (analytics, advertising and email), and the software we use for jobs, quotes, invoices and accounts. We share with them only what they need to provide those services to us
- the Building and Plumbing Commission and water, gas or energy authorities, where the law or the job requires it (for example plumbing compliance certificates)
- anyone else you ask us to share it with, or where the law requires or allows it.
Information stored overseas
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. These include Google, Cloudflare and our form service, Web3Forms.
Security and how long we keep it
We hold personal information electronically, in our email, job and accounting software and with the service providers named above. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls on the systems that hold it. We keep job and billing records for as long as the law requires (tax records, for example, for at least five years), and other information only for as long as we need it, then delete or de-identify it. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and, where the law requires, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, using the contact details below. We will respond within 30 days. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will work to resolve it. We aim to reply to a complaint within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also be able to raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
