Your Local Plumber in Newcomb, Whittington & St Albans Park
These three suburbs sit side by side between East Geelong and the Barwon River. Newcomb grew quickly in the 1960s as industry arrived at nearby Point Henry, and most of its homes date from the middle of the last century. Whittington filled out in the same decade. St Albans Park was split from Whittington around 1999, with Townsend Street as the dividing line, so much of it was built while it was still part of Whittington.
Together they gave us 251 jobs in the last 12 months: 113 in Newcomb, 74 in Whittington and 64 in St Albans Park. Taken together, that’s more than any single suburb we work in. Leaks were behind 121 of those jobs – almost half – followed by taps and mixers (66), rental-property work (54) and blocked drains (49). A job can sit in more than one group, so those figures overlap.
Rentals are a big part of the work here: about one job in five was for a rental property, whether the call came from the agent, the owner or the tenant. We treat the urgent ones as urgent and keep everyone updated until the job is done.
Plumbing Services Across the Three Suburbs
Listed by how often each type of job came up over the past 12 months.
Almost half our work here. Dripping joints, wet walls, damp floors and water bills that don’t make sense – we track down where the water is going and repair it properly.
Sixty-six tap and mixer jobs in the past 12 months: drips, stiff handles and leaks at the base, in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. We repair or replace, priced before we start.
For property managers, owners and landlords: tenant call-outs, urgent repairs and routine fixes, with updates along the way. Our rental checklist sets out the plumbing side of Victoria’s minimum standards.
Showers, sinks and toilets that drain slowly or back up. We clear the drain and explain whether grease, roots or a damaged pipe is behind it.
Shower bases leaking into the next room, roses that drip and sink wastes letting go under the cupboard. Caught early, these are usually small repairs.
Gas, electric, heat pump or solar. If it’s stopped, leaking or only lukewarm, we diagnose it and give you a fixed price to repair or replace.
Cisterns that run constantly, slow refills, weak flushes and leaks around the pan. A running toilet wastes water all day and night, so it’s worth fixing sooner rather than later.
Common Plumbing Problems in These Homes
With many mid-century houses and plenty of rentals, the same faults turn up again and again. These five lead the list.
Hidden leaks pushing up the water bill
If your bill jumps for no clear reason, turn everything off and watch the meter. If it still moves, there’s a leak somewhere, and we’ll find it.
Leaking shower bases
Gaps in grout or a failed seal let water escape under the tiles and into walls or floors. Swollen skirting boards or a musty smell are common signs.
Worn taps and mixers
Older tapware wears out with daily use, and a constant drip wastes water around the clock until it’s fixed.
Roof leaks and blocked gutters
We did 24 roof and 20 gutter jobs here in the last 12 months. Stained ceilings after rain often mean a cracked flashing, a rusted sheet or a gutter overflowing under the roof – our roof plumbing service covers all three.
Slow or smelly drains
Built-up grease and hair cause most slow drains. A bad smell can also mean a dried-out trap or a damaged pipe.
Close By for Urgent Jobs
We’re based in Leopold, a short drive away, and together these three suburbs gave us more work than any single suburb around Geelong. When a pipe bursts or a toilet overflows, that means less time on the road before we’re at your door.
Our emergency line is answered 24/7, weekends and public holidays included. If water is pouring out, turn it off at the meter first, then call 0447 134 432.

Plumbing Costs in Newcomb, Whittington & St Albans Park – What to Expect
Leak jobs vary the most. A dripping tap is a quick repair; a leak hidden inside a wall or under a slab takes longer to find before it can be fixed. We explain what’s involved and give you a fixed price before starting.
For rentals, Consumer Affairs Victoria says urgent repairs – such as a burst water service or a blocked or broken toilet system – must be made immediately, and the rental provider pays for repairs that aren’t the renter’s fault. We work with whoever is authorising the job.

Plumbing FAQs for Newcomb, Whittington & St Albans Park
Yes, all three. In the last 12 months we did 113 jobs in Newcomb, 74 in Whittington and 64 in St Albans Park – 251 in total. We also work in the neighbouring suburbs of Moolap, Thomson, Breakwater and East Geelong.
Mostly the fittings people use every day – taps, mixers, showers and sinks – plus hidden leaks in walls, under floors and in yard pipes. Leaks came up in 121 of our 251 jobs across these suburbs in the last 12 months, so we arrive equipped to deal with most of them on the first visit.
Turn off every tap and water-using appliance, note the meter reading, and check it again after a few hours. Barwon Water says that if the reading has changed you may have a leak, and suggests repeating the test to be sure. Leaks on your side of the meter are the owner’s to repair, so call a licensed plumber to track it down.
Usually not, unless it wastes a lot of water. Under Consumer Affairs Victoria’s rules, non-urgent repairs must be done within 14 days of a written request, while a fitting or fixture that isn’t working and wastes a lot of water is on the urgent list, alongside a burst water service and a blocked or broken toilet system.
Yes. We did 24 roof jobs and 20 gutter and downpipe jobs in these suburbs in the last 12 months – leaking flashings, rusted sheets, overflowing gutters and broken downpipes. Our roof plumbing page explains how we find and fix roof leaks.
Stop using that shower if you can, and call us. We check whether the water is coming from the mixer, the waste or the shower base, then quote the fix. The sooner it’s found, the less damage there is to walls, skirting boards and floors.
